General Electric T58 Jet Engine — $25k

Govdeals has a spare T58 jet engine closing on January 16th. While it’s tough to know where C2 Government Remarketing gets their stock (this is the same group out of Berryville where I found my mystery tactical gimbal antenna), we do know that this model is the variant with the highest power output at 1,870 hp (1,390 kW).

This lineup is intended for use on helicopters, and this high power unit seems to have only been used in a dual engine configuration on the Boeing CH-46E Sea Knight.

While I can’t imagine many readers are in need of a spare aviation engine, it would be pretty cool to see this used in some kind of terrestrial vehicle retrofit or converted to a microturbine. Part of me really wants to see it hooked up to some electric motors in a diesel-electric style powerplant, but maintenance on this thing is likely untenable for an individual. Would undoubtedly make for a sweet conversation piece, though.
