Underwater Bomb Hunting Drone, more Robot Arms, and a ton of 3D Printers
Kicking off the week with a ton of cool stuff to match the huge influx of new subscribers. Welcome to all the new readers!
$50k, 8 Days left. University of Delaware.
500m depth rating, seafloor mapping sensors, onboard camera, and water quality / temp / o2 / turbidity sensors. I really, really want this. Here’s hoping no one bids and we can get a relist at a lower price (or if anyone wants to invest in my new treasure hunting startup, shoot me an email 😄 ).
Looks like it was used in a grant to locate underwater explosives. Cool.
$310, 8 days left. West Virginia.
Another FANUC! This one has been sitting since 2015, but looks to be in pretty good shape. Looks like it was used in an automated packaging system ("offline packing robotics assisted helper" — O.P.R.A.H.), though I can’t seem to find any info about it online.
Combining a few listings here for lower tier / educational robotics systems. The second listing seems to have some usable items, but they look to be in rough shape. I do love the design of the Denso 4-axis SCARA arms — extremely useful for pick and place style operations without dealing with the complexity or cost of a full six axis arm — and quite the deal at $56. It also looks like it might include a linear slide?
$10k, 8 hours left. Virginia.
This is a little different than what I normally feature, but I can’t ever get enough of mobile command centers. What engineer doesn’t want a mobile workshop? This MT55 was used by the Henrico Police Dept — I found the below image online, so you can see what it looked like before they blacked out the Police livery. Seems to be fully drivable and with a functioning generator.
Collection of Lulzbot 3D printers
$500-$1k, six hours left. Baltimore.
I know, the name is dumb. But Lulzbot hardware is some of the most reliable printers I’ve ever used. I own an original Lulzbot Mini v1 (the ones being auctioned are the v2), and the only maintenance I’ve had to do on it through almost a decade of ownership is a main board replacement that cost $75. I’ve got a bunch of Ultimaker S5s, and I still opt for the Lulzbot on occasion. They have automatic nozzle cleaning and bed level detection that works pretty dang well.
These are at Johns Hopkins University, so there may be some valid concern about these being used and abused by students — the shared lab printers were almost always running when I was in school. These also aren’t the best deal, considering the fact that you can regularly get refurbished Pro units for around $1,500 on ebay. I suspect the Pro and Minis will get relisted for lower.
That’s all for today. Let me know if you pick anything up!
