Universal Robotics UR5 ending in a few hours

Looking to snag a sweet deal on some solid robotic hardware? A UR5 robotic arm has popped up on govdeals, and it’s calling your name. The UR5 is a workhorse—reliable, flexible, and pretty much ready to drop into whatever project you’re cooking up (as long as that project needs less than 850mm of reach and a 5kg payload). This one looks to be in “ok” shape, and was certainly used extensively by the current owners at the Georgia Institute of Technology. One major thing to note is that it looks like the teach pendant might be cracked, so any buyers should be aware that repairs are likely necessary.

From factory floors to research labs, these things are known to punch above their weight, and command a pretty high price tag (generally over $10k on ebay) for their size. This is due to strong software support and status as a cobot that can operate safely around people — basically every robotics lab in the country has one of these, so you know they can be trusted around undergrads. Expect fantastic documentation and straightforward controls with these (along with a robust repair network, but expect any required replacement components to cost more than acquisition price here).

The UR5 is located in Atlanta and has a 5 day pickup window, so be ready to fly down to grab it. Alternatively, you can shoot me a DM on X/twitter so that I can arrange pickup and shipping for you. The link to the auction is below, happy bidding!
